Rubric
Dance Physique: Does
the student have the type of physique that will allow him/her to succeed and
prosper in the LVPA dance program?
Knowledge of Basic Alignment: Does the student understand the basic
fundamentals of dance?
Technical Skill: What
level of dance education does the student already possess?
Ability to Negotiate Technique: Formally trained or not, how does the student
work through the exercises and movement given? How high is the student’s
frustration level? Does the student give up when the given material is
difficult or attempt the challenge?
Quality of Previous Training: If the student is previously trained, how
good or poor was this training?
Demonstrates Potential:
What is the perceived potential for the student? Will the student thrive and grow at LVPA?
Demonstrates Discipline:
How does the student handle himself/herself in the class situation and
interview? Has the student taken the audition process seriously?
Demonstrates Commitment: Does the student exhibit traits that will
allow him/her to maintain interest in the LVPA dance program even when the
going gets tough? Does he/she demonstrate willingness to open himself/herself
to new ideas and meet challenges?
Demonstrates Creativity: Does the student display the ability to play
and problem-solve?
Demonstrates Maturity:
Throughout the audition process, has the student shown himself/herself
to be in control, able to handle the material presented, and speak in a fashion
that shows confidence in his/her abilities?
Level of Interest in Program: Does the student display a genuine interest
in the type of program offered at LVPA?
Readiness for Program:
Does the student possess the physical, mental and emotional qualities or
traits that will ensure he/she experiences growth, progress and an overall
positive experience in their artistic area?
