   The Lehigh Valley Charter High School     for the Performing Arts provides a rich and comprehensive educational program for students grades 9 through 12 with talents and potential in dance, figure skating, instrumental music, theatre, visual art, and vocal music.  Admission to LVPA is based on audition.  This regional model will enable each student to maximize his or her special talents.  Our graduates will increase the quality of their life, the lives of people who surround them, and the respective communities of the Lehigh Valley.

Student/Staff Population

 

The student population is 449, with a high degree of diversity and 105 students in the current senior class.  Of our 47 faculty members, 30 percent have advanced degrees and share an average of 7.1 years of teaching experience.  The current staff to student ratio is 1 to 9.1.

ACCREDITATION

    The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts is fully accredited by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education and The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

 

    District and Community

 

     LVPA is located minutes away from historic downtown   Bethlehem, the heart of the Lehigh Valley community.  Located approximately 60 miles northeast of Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley is home to many notable colleges and universities.  A great diversity of cultures and historic preservation are prominent features of the area.  LVPA is currently drawing students from 40+ surrounding area high school districts.

 

Curriculum

 

The college preparatory curriculum is designed to develop individual potential while meeting the entrance requirements of America’s competitive colleges.  The program of studies contains a full complement of college preparatory courses and each academic discipline offers honors level options. Advanced placement courses are available in English, American History, Art History, Music Theory and Spanish..  Students participate in a comprehensive Performing Arts program for three hours each day.

   Foreign Language – 2 credits                      Internship – 1 credit

   History – 4 credits               Performing Arts Major – 16 credits

   Mathematics – 3 credits                                  Graduation Project
