Currently, at LVPA, Miss Ellen Ditmer directs the Women’s Choir and 9/10 Choir, and teaches piano technique, vocal technique, music theory, and music history classes.
Miss Ditmer earned a B.S. in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College in 2002, with a piano concentration. She participated in the College Choir and Concert Choir, performed solo piano repertoire, accompanied a number of vocal and instrumental students, and completed training in piano pedagogy and literature.
Formerly, Miss Ditmer taught from 2002-2008 in Dover, Delaware’s Capital School District. While there, she directed the seventh and eighth grade choirs, and created several extra-curricular choral ensembles, including men’s and women’s choirs, and the select Madrigal Ensemble. She was also member of the Delaware All-State Junior Chorus committee from 2005-2008.
In 2004, Miss Ditmer began graduate musical studies at the University of Delaware in Newark. Her coursework included advanced choral conducting and literature studies, and music history. Additionally, Miss Ditmer was a member of the semi-professional choir, Schola Cantorum. The group of 150+ student and community singers performed concerts on and off campus, with the university’s orchestra, and with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra in Wilmington.
